Spirit in Action

Social Justice Group

Who We Are:

Spirit in Action, the social justice group was formed to serve people in our community, across the country and throughout the world to live in dignity and peace. Among the issues addressed are homelessness, immigration, women's rights, equality for all, gun control, refugees, just to name a few. We join with other organizations working in these areas. Our mission: Connect with the community to insure love and equality to all that are in need of light.

We meet the last Sunday of each month at Swami's Restaurant in North Park at 9am. Contact: Lorraine Iverson at for questions.

North Park Lions Club

We enjoy an active service partnership with NP Lions as a benefit of previously sharing their space for Sunday gatherings. Some of the projects in the works are those that serve local schools and students from disadvantaged backgrounds, such as delivering fresh produce from the San Diego Food Bank to the schools for parents to pick up when they pick up their children as well as other needs. Lions Club International is a service membership organization of over 1.7 million members worldwide, with programs which include sight conservation, hearing and speech conservation, diabetes awareness, youth outreach, international relations, environmental issues and many others.

Angel Tree Program

Providing gifts for children of Parenting Youth in San Diego’s Extended Foster Care Program AND the Alpha Project - Bridge Housing.

In 2020, Universal Spirit Center's 9th Annual Angel Tree Program sponsored a total of 109 children in San Diego. Thanks to all the sponsors and Patrons who provided matching funds.

Global Heart Tithe

Each month we tithe to people and organizations that align with our Center's purpose and mission.

Universal Spirit Center commits to tithing 10% each month on what is given to us. Each month we give 5% of this tithe to organizations or individuals who work toward creating a world that works for everyone!

Anyone may request a contribution by filling out the form below. This form will be reviewed by our Stewardship Core and select organizations or individuals who seem most appropriate.

An individual from the selected organization is invited to come to one of our Sunday Gatherings to receive the amount designated, speak about their work and be available at a table after our in-person Gathering to further educate, sign up volunteers or receive additional donations from our congregation.
